92 tleg tw 5mt swap questions

I read over the stickies and searched but mainly just concerned over the wiring of the swap. I just picked up a 5mt out of a 91 leg na and the whole setup and was wondering if I needed to swap clusters also. There was some dispute over the cruise control working with the 5mt with little mods.
Also, would I need another na clutch? or I hear about the possibility of running a tleg clutch but I've never seen one only heard about the jdm trans.

I'm about to start my swap (hopefully within about two weeks) and imagine you've already seen my thread - http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=38720

To answer the issue of your gauge clusters - you do not need to swap them. There is a wire that goes up to the gauge cluster that controls the Neutral light switch that needs snipped. If you don't snip it will just stay on all the time and drive you nuts.

The cruise can work, but it will require a little bit of re-wiring. I am not worry about the cruise so I can't answer that question.

With regards to the clutch. You cannot use a turbo clutch. There is a difference between the NA and turbo clutch actuation, one is pull and one is push. If you want to run a stronger clutch than the NA Legacy, you should check out clutches for the RS.

Thanks. I did more searching after I posted and found similar info. Gotcha on the clutch.

I'll check more into the cruise control wiring. Anyone else have done this?

Legacy777/Josh C. is the main reason my swap worked out....his site likely will help.

Good luck.

my $.02, for the cruise control and also the ignition switch, i recommend running the two wires from the 4eat harness for the neutral safety switch to the clutch depress switch. this way as a safety feature you have to press in the clutch to start the car, and the cruise control gets kicked off when you depress the clutch. i did it on both of my 5 speed swaps.

yeah its all finished now...I didnt hook up the clutch safety switch. It has remote start, I figured I wouldnt bother removing it. I never leave the car in gear and its nice to have once in a while. I havent spent any time wiring the cruise control yet, as its having starting issues that i believe are caused by the ignition switch (i hope) unless its my starter thats only a month old. When i do get around to it, ill leave the brake kill switch as i dont depress the clutch to disengage cruise.

As for more info, I swapped this all from an na legacy wagon, swapped diffs, and installed a replacement clutch. Clutch seems to hold up well (even with a sticky wastegate that spikes at 25psi sometimes haha) So in case anyone is in need of a j/y 5 speed swap instead of paying for an auto rebuild, I would recommend it.
