My first speeding ticket...

Yup, on the way to school this morning, my psychological radar was off at the moment, waved hello to the nice hiway patrol as I passed by at the speed limit, then got on it again only to be caught by the speed trap up ahead...
Was doing 64 in a 45, but b/c I was so nice and had my seatbelt on, the officer wrote down 55...
And, IggDawg, you might help me get out of it! I said "I was going 64? Well, as they say, Subaru gauges are for entertainment only!" Now I have 30 days to go check my speedo and if I can produce paperwork that says it was off, I get the ticket lifted... Thanks man!
Thats nothing!

Ur sooo lucky! Not as lucky as I have been!
I got pulled over twice! Once doing 85 in a 35, the Nice cop said, Ur driving a VW, which means u probably know how to drive... So I am going to let u go! But don't let me catch u again... What a nice COP! And another time I was on the freeway got pulled over buy a lying sack of crap who said I was going 80+ in a 60, where I had just entered the freeway and was only doing 68 gettin tailgated. FRIGGEN dumb lying cop grr...

And he of course didn't know how to read, and wrote down my insurance was expired... Which it wasn't. Ticket came to 595.00$ And I only had to pay 100 bucks for a differed finding. Didn't go on my record either.. Thank god. Some cops are such Dill holes.

Sorry about the speeding ticket. I drive on I4 and around Orlando too. The state highway patrol uses a lowpower superKa band. Most detectors can't see it. My old Whistler had Ka detection and couldn't see them at all. Where were you caught? I probably use the same road

I go to UCF and I was going east on 408 to Challenger, where it goes from 65 to 55 to 45 to 35...
Well I was still going 65 in the 45

...
I have concluded that the sheriffs and the hiway patrols are what you need to watch, not necessarily the OPD...
I have my own mental radar detector, my grandfather gave it to me when I got my license

, but it was on the fritz that morning...

If you are going to speed, you will need a radar detector. It won't prevent all tickets but is much better than nothing at all. The sheriff will often just cruise with the radar off going someplace. The highway patrol mostly looks for speeders. Plus they are using excellent radar guns here. I used to live in Ohio where the highway patrol still uses the x-band and any detector sees it far away.
