The little stainless steel brake pad spring holder on my Leg

Fits between the caliper and the pads, what the heck is it for and is it needed?

I've been through so many sets of rotors, pads & calipers that I can't believe it. Now this time one of the pads was seized up in and couldn't move as a result of this thing, needless to say I'm about ready to through it out unless it's really of some use.

Thanks

that's an anti-rattle shim. probably not required for operation, but you may get more brake squeal...

I figured as much but with the pad sooo tight on the fingers with that shim I think I'll pull it.

Just put some disc brake quieter on the back of the pad. The stuff from CRC works better then the stupid shims...

No, I'm talking about the little pad finger shims not the pad backing shims

Do you use any synthetic brake caliper grease on namely the slides, but also those antirattle shims and the backs of the pads? If they are going really fast it sounds like they are dragging.
