will it?

I found a rebuildable core from an EJ18 impreza, but I can't seem to find any info on whether or not it will work in my legacy.

It will, but it will probably run a dit rich and overfuel because of the displacment difference. It could stumble at mid-rpms full throttle because of that. The car will be driveable, but not optimum.

Just use your Ej22 intake manifold and wiring. Otherwise it's like a stock replacement.

actually, I meant the transmission, sorry, I wasn't very clear. I need to replace the MT in my legacy, and I found a core transmission from a EJ18 impreza that I was thinking of having rebuilt for my Legacy. The tranny in my car is toast, with chipped teeth.

I'm running a 5MT from a 95 1.8, it's fine. Just make sure your rear diff matches or gets replaced as well.

+1 Check the tranny code on the 1.8 trans. Subaru ran either 4.11 or 3.90 in the 1.8 depending on the year.
