Instrument cluster illuminiation

I am having an issue with my instrument cluster. I swapped in a used cluster and the lights on the right side (tach/gas) gauges don't illuminate when you turn the lights on. My old cluster did not have this issue. I pulled the dash back apart and put my old cluster in and it lights up fine, but when I put the new one it, it still does not light.

I think you have burnt out bulbs in your "new" cluster. You can take the bulbs out and swap them over.

Bulbs look fine, the whole right side of the cluster doesn't light up. When I took it out, it looks like it had water damage, I guess the yard I ordered it from took the windshield out and let the elements get to it. Looks like I am in the market again.

Try taking the plastic overlay off the old cluster and placing it on the new cluster?

I am unsure what that will do?

If the bulbs are good (you said you checked), and the old one will light up (meaning the wiring is good), the problem must be the plastic overlay. It's the only part of the puzzle left.

Should be able to take the cluster apart and swap the printed cuircuit board and light sockets over from your old cluster to the new one. What's the worse that could happen? something breaks and you have to get another cluster, which is what you are looking at doing now...
BTW, can you fill in your profile, might help to know where you are and what you have.... I'm in Tacoma and "should" be able to get a cluster pretty easy.... I may even have a couple in the parts wagon...
