So I have a 92 SS and it doesnt have timing belt covers. It really sketches me out not having them. I plan on getting some at the local JY. There is dirt and dust and such in there now.

My question is, what should I do before I put the Timing Belt Covers on?

Well I know that. So theres no way of messing sh*t up? Just blow all the crap out?

LOL yeah, compressed air would be best if it's just dirt and stuff. You shouldn't hurt a thing.

How old is the timing belt & water pump?

If it was run this way for a long time, you may want to consider a new belt.

just make sure that when you are blowing all that dirt and debris out, that nothing gets on a open tooth on the timing belt or cam gears. A small rock or pebble could tear that belt make it jump a tooth. I have seen it happen. I suggest using a shop vac before you go blowing all that dirt and debris everywhere

theres an answer I was looking for ^. Shop vac never even entered my mind. That sounds safer.

If you've been running the car like that and it's been a while I would suggest replacing the belt and idlers. Even the water pump and oil pump while you're at it if they've got a lot of miles on them.
