ventilation system question

I did a search, but can't seem to find the answer to this question.

Where does the fresh air for the cabin ventilation system enter the car?

I suspect it may be in the right fender but haven't had a chance to look.

Why do I ask? We live in the mountains and have problems with chipmunks and mice. They have apparently decided the HVAC system is a nice warm dry place and have loaded it up with dry dog food. I was wondering what the weird smell was and why the blower motor rattled. My wife identified the smell and now I get to clean it up.

The duct in the front passenger side is the air-intake for the engine.

I believe the passenger air intake is also on the right side below the windshield.

thanks, I pulled the blower motor and found all sorts of food and nest material. Next step will be to remove the fender liner and clean the duct.

Cabin air typically draws from under the cowl vent panel, that plastic cover under the wipers below the windshield.

Thanks! that was the info I was looking for. I didn't know where it picked up the air from.
