two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon.

If I were going to Vegas with a Samoan lawyer, I'd be all over that. I'm past my stoned road trip days by the better part of a decade.

Me too, but it's still a very classic quote.

Just be sure to take a decent sampling of tools (10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm, 19mm, pliers, vice grips, and a couple of each standard and phillips screwdriver) a real jack, jumper cables and maybe a cigarette lighter air pump and you'll be fine.

Is it THAT bad of a trip that you need to bring ALL that. If anything carrying the extra weight will put more stress on everything and cause it to break. Just bring a alternator only and toolset. Why not pickup oil and coolant as you go along IF neccesary. If you don't have oil leaks or coolant leaks don't get TO worried. If anything I would suggest a oil change, and a tuneup maybe if it has not been done recently.

You're joking right? The extra weight of oil and coolant is going to cause wear and tear on the vehicle and break it? Maybe I shouldn't carry clothes or toiletries either and just buy them when I arrive at my destination because their weight will wear out and break my car.

Dude, you have a Subaru now, not an Audi, relax a little and enjoy the drive.

Please don't go digging for month old threads just to bump them with an attempt at humour.
