About three months ago the gas mileage on my car started to get worse
and worse. Yesterday the car began to stumble and bog. Even at idle
the engine will stumble a little then jump up to 1000rpm or so and
then stumble again. Car runs fine when its cold or at least doesn't
seem to have any problems. Once the car begins to warm up it will
hesitate on acceleration. Keeping the revs above 2500rpm makes the
car driveable. Not getting as much sound from the turbo as before. Is
it possible that there is a problem with the turbo and it is no
longer spooling properly? Anybody else observed symptoms like the
ones I mentioned above? Anyone have a source in Canada for rebuilding
turbos?

Well I'm not a turbo head, but I can tell you from what you described it doesn't sound like the turbo. Because the turbo spools up as revs increase, so at idle the effects of the turbo are not really there. It sounds like you have a problem some where else, don't know if vacuum leak or something could be causing poor idle or what not. When was the last time you did a tune up? i.e. plugs, wires, oil...etc. If you haven't done any of the common stuff yet, do that first, as it will be less expensive, then trying to diagnose something that isn't there. Also, if you get through that, and it's still acting up, you may want to check the computer for any trouble codes. It could also be a problem with the airflow meter. As these wear out your ecu has problems figuring air fuel ratio's.

Engine problems
Could be, but I had an ailing mass air-flow meter for about a year...trying to figure out what was the problem, had intermittent stalling, loss of power.....when it ran, it seemed to run fine, it was just when it was acting up. One thing to note is that I did notice a little better idling after replacing the MAF meter. It's a tuff call, because it's like $300 US, so not something you wanna change on a whim. Just curious have you tried resetting the ECU and letting it relearn the settings, that sometimes helps with my car.....
The little "battery dance" as it's called is to disconnect one of the leads from the battery for about an hour or so, reconnect the lead, get in the car, turn off all accessories, start the car, but WITHOUT touching the gas pedal, Let the car run for about 10-15 min, (again without touching the gas at all) or until it warms up...usually 10 min is good, then turn the ignition to the off position, and you're good to go. There may be different variations to this...but that's what I've found from Subaru mechanics, and followed myself.....I guess it wouldn't hurt to try it......do check the ecu codes for stuff, as well as general tune up stuff.

Engine problems
Unlikely to be the turbo, and sounds like a bad sensor has upset the engine
management system... there will probably be some fault codes stored in the
ECU which could isolate the problem.

Engine problems
Found the problem last night. It turned out to be antifreeze in one
of the spark plug holes. Damn hole was about half full. Must have
been from when I had that leak a couple days ago. Funny that the car
ran fine for a day or so and then started to cause me trouble. Also
funny that it would run fine until warmed up. Anyways, I guess the
spark was going to ground once the water warmed up. All good now with
a new set of plugs to boot. Thanks for all the help guys. I managed
to pull 4 codes out of the ecu because of the rough running engine.
