Transmission not locking up I think?

I am not sure if this is just normal behaviour to save fuel, but it is a bit annoying. If I hit the throttle from start at lets say 1/2 throttle pulls great, but if I am doing a steady speed, and then I give it 1/2 throttle, it just rev's to 3k makes alot of noise (not sure if I am hearing the turbo, or the torque converter, or just my heatshield raddling a bit with a rock in it). It does pick up speed, but if I just jump on it at 1/2 throttle to get it in power mode, it locks up, and car pulls good. When the torque converter does this, is it to prevent the engine from making boost and basically all I am hearing is the turbo spooling? To be honest I do not even recall when I bought the car if it did this, as when I bought it I would just stomp it because it was so much fun lol.

The torque converter does not lockup when you give it "the gas" It actually unlocks.

These transmissions can be kind of finicky with downshifting. When I had my auto I found that the threshold for downshifting was either none at all or two gears and the engine would be screaming. My solution was to manually downshift the gear selector, typically from D to 3 to get the desired rpm/power.

You may try that. If it helps, then I'd probably say it's just how these transmissions are.

Probably is normal. Oh well, it's not to bad, its more of the noise being created, and it is a mix of a heatshield and the turbo.
