So... I know one of the regional parts managers for subaru... and he gets company cars... and so he snagged one of the new Legacy's... Here are two pics I grabbed...

the fronts kinda "blobby" but that may just be me...

The tranny is interesting. Its a CVT and doestn shift, just keeps the rpms constant under heavy acceleration. Unless of course you put it in manual mode... then the "shifts" are more noticable but still super soft... It rides really nice. The interior is fantastic. much better than the older ones...

Comparing it to my car is quite ridiculous lol.

Overall a very nice car. I just dont quite know about the looks, well, mainly the front end.

I think it looks like ass. I don't get why they have to make all the new cars look so bulky and horrible.

It looks like someone sat on a clay model of the Tribeca, and they made it into a car.

Why, Subaru? You used to have quirky styling, sure, but it was GOOD quirky! Not this fattened, bulky crap. I love the current Legacy because it's the only midsize Japanese sedan that looks good (and can actually perform). This new atrocity fits right in with the fat, ugly Accords and Camrys. Bleck.

If ya squint hard enough, it looks like a mercedes from the front. I dont like it though. Too frumpy and fat. The current one is sleek and sexy in comparisan. There is not a current Subaru that I would buy cos there are ugly.

It kinda looks like the Subaru Exiga a bit but I doubt they will have 7 passenger versions of this - which they really should (old wagon style 3rd row rear seat)....

I'm guessing that within a few years the 3.6L will be turbocharged. I will probably have to get one of those.

As mentioned above, blame the snubbiness on the pedestrian safety standards that everyone is trying to cope with for styling. Just think of what it must be like to be hit by one of these retro musclecars...at least you wouldn't get thrown up into the air.

Meh whatever. It's an Outback. It was built to appeal to the liking of lesbians and anyone 65+ years old (sorry to anyone I may offend). The STi, WRX, Legacy GT and Legacy Spec.B are built to appeal to 'us.'

I think that would explain why the Outback gets a CVT and the Spec B gets a 6-speed. Ya know?

It aint just the Spec-B with a 6mt now... The GT gets it to

If you get hit by a car that is going 35mph, its gonna hurt bad whether the bumper is made of sawblades, or a smooth rounded sheet of metal. The saftey laws are complete b.s. Just make it look good!!!

It's just a matter of time until all cars' front ends have pillows shaped like Frenchmen.

I hope Subaru stylists stop going through Nissan/Infinity's trashcan.
