ok the check engine light came on like a week ago, i scanned it with my obd2 reader and it says "fan performance" i erased it and the next day it came back on while at a drive through, so it sounds like the cooling fans arnt working very well, should i get them replaced?

Fail. I'm sorry I need to know what P code it is. It might be the relays burning out or it could be the fans. You can go ahead and try it with replacing the fans but I'm sure you can hook it to a battery and test them??

Um, have you checked the fans visually? Is there any damage to the fans and wiring, shafts wobbling. etc.? Do they come on when the motor's hot, and if they do, do they sound normal? Don't be afraid to check the basics first before you start spending (and possibly wasting) money.

Do the fans come on and turn off? When the fan comes on does it cool the motor? It may not be the fans, but rather their effect on the engine's temperature that is unsatisfactory.
