Does anyone know if i can switch the grill from a later year legacy into my 90, or would i have to change over the headlights and subframe as well ( I dislike the honeycomb style grill) thanks

The only year you could swap over from is the 90 and 91s. In order to use the grill from a later year (92-94) you'd need to swap the headlights, bumper, and hood!!

The 91 turbo legacies have a different, non-honeycomb style grill.

you can't swap hoods, grill, lights from a 92-94 to a 90-91.....the hood is shorter for one....and there are other issues.

There are different grills available for the 90-91 models. I have one that is not honeycomb. It has horizontal slats. Check out my site....I've got tons of pictures on there.

If you like that grill.....just call around to some junkyards.

The honeycomb and horizontal slats discussion, isn't that the primary visual difference between the L and the LS? The L had the horizontal (mine) and the LS had honeycomb...

The corner lenses are also different heights so you'd have to rplace the fenders, corners, hood, grille, and lights. you'd could put in, like stated above, the horizontal slats one from an L or Turbo. AS for th Lights I like the 90-91's, they have that "frowning" aggressive look

ME TOO!!! 8)

Legacy777, the hoods are shorter? So does that mean the overall length of the cars is different? Or did they just change cabin space?

If I ever get around to sorting through the old bc-bf list stuff.....I can point you to where two guys tried swappin hoods and that's what they found out....the 92-94 is just slightly shorter & different shape. The cars I don't think were changed as far as wheel base is concerned though.

It would make sense that the hood is shorter... the 92-94 front end is slanted more towards the rear of the car than the 90-91...

LegacyT is right, the 92-94 hood has a straight line across the bottom since the headlights don't slant up like the 90-91's, they also are curved near the grill where 90-91s are straight, the parking lights are different, so just using those three factors, neither the hood nor the fenders nor the grill would acommodate the 92-94 stuff...

I as well prefer the overall design of the 90-91, 92-94 still looks a lot better than many other cars out there, but the styling looks a little softened compared to 90-91

the reason i was asking is because i dont really care for the honeycomb grill it just looks..........so.............so........80's !!!!!!!!!!
am i alone in this ?? It also reminds me of the datsun cars of the 70's

thanks everyone,
AL

You have an LS, that's why you have a honey comb grill...

You don't like it? I like it better, hold on lemme turn this Men At Work song up   ...

A 90-91 L grill should fit perfectly, it has horizontal slats instead...

you can swap the whole front over from a 92-94. it bolts up i seen it done before. you need the fenders, rad suport, hood, headlights, grill, bumper fascia, bumper beam, and the bumper suport. it would work i had my 90 and my 93 on lifts and i checked it out for myself. it can be done. ill try to find a pic i had with a 92-94 front on a 90-91 body.
