so i had a slightly ticky valve, then i changed my oil after 2500 miles with 20w-50 valvoline racing formula. Problem is the ticking has gotten louder and im not sure what i should do.

1. engine flush
2. valve job

Im not sure what to do any ideas?

run some rotella t 15-40 i have some lifter ticking and it seems like to me rotella works better. the valvoline for me just made it tick more too.

Valvoline racing oil is bad stuff to run if you have a catalytic converter, the high zinc content will eventually kill it. Not to mention that 20w-50 takes a long time to build pressure on a cold start, and thus accelerates wear on the motor as a whole.

Just curious...what weight of oil were you running before? I've always had better luck with thinner oil to quiet lifters down, NOT thicker. Also, have you tried Rislone or something similar to gently clean things out a bit?

Ok. Buy some 10w-30 oil and a can of SeaFoam engine cleaner. Change the oil and add about 1/2 of the SeaFoam to the oil. Then drive around (preferably on the freeway) with the RPM above 3000 to help get the oil flowing. Then come back home (after the ticking has ceased) and change out the oil with 10w-30 again.

It's worked for me with every car I've had that had noisy lifters.
