Coolant flush

During the engine swap, I've noticed some of the coolant draining out is a light brown color. Obviously need to flush everything out.
To flush the coolant passages in the engine, I assume I have to remove the thermostat, and then stick a hose in the top coolant tube? Probably should flow some water from the condenser tank too on top. Anything else to be done?

I've never done a coolant flush before. Do you only use water or is there another chemical you can use to clean it out better?

What you described is about right to flush the engine.

Flushing out the radiator and heater core would be a wise idea while you're at it, but you probably already know that.

i used only water and i am still seeing a little bit of debree. I am going to bring my car to a dealer and get it flushed as well as replace the thermostat as i think my new one is defective.

Why do you think it's defective? Is it OEM?

yes and it seems like the car only overheats a slight bit but not enough to show on the needle.

I use CLR to flush the coolant passages. Really REALLY cleans everything out.

house hold cleaner. Calcium Lime Rust cleaner is what it is. I just put that in the system and let it run around for about 15 to 20 minutes. Then let that drain and run water through the system open while the motor is on.
