So, when building an EJ22T, can a crank from a 2.5 fit? If so, what machining has to be done? What rods do you have to use?
Thanks!

phase 1, phase 1, no machining! Custom wisecos are needed for the extrusion point.

This comes up often....should it be stickied?

Well, since I usually only build American V8's, I thought I would ask. I don't understand what "Phase 1" is, or why nobody has a book showing parts interchange. Actually, with as many V8 engine building books that sell, I'm really suprised that no one has any book showing how to build a Subaru engine. Or is there a book? I would definitely buy it!

Phase I applies to the '96-99 DOHC 2.5 used in the Outback, GT and LSi,and '98 Forester and Impreza RS; Phase II is the SOHC 2.5 used on '99+ Forester/Impreza and '00+ Outback+.

Ah........finally I am starting to understand! So, basically any of the billet crankshafts that are for the 02 and up WRX's will not fit in my EJ22T?

The ONLY reason you would use a 2.5 crankshaft is if you are STROKING your motor. Then you need different pistons.

ARE you stroking it?

Not neccessarily, just wondering if it was possible. I can only buy a billet crank for a 2.5....a stroker motor wouldn't be out of the question though!

The crank is not billet, you are using the wrong terminology. It is forged.
