Pretty sweet! According to Google's translation (lol), it's an automatic RS/RA with 54,000 km on the odo.

From everything I remember reading, the RS/RAs could not be ordered with an automatic.

Nice looking car. No interior shots, so it could be a 5-speed.

The JDM RS/RA didn't come with an auto.

A Babelfish translation says that it's a GT, and that stacks up. The JDM GT had about 10kw less power than the RS and virtually all GT's were auto, but were otherwise identical to the RS in terms of suspension, trim, brakes etc. The GT was rated at 150kw, and the RS was rated at 160kw, and I understand the differences were mainly the cams and possibly the ECU.

If anyone is interested, New Zealand doesn't have much interest in fleabay. The dominant local online auction in NZ is TradeMe, and the website is http://www.trademe.co.nz

Search for cars, and enter Subaru Legacy GT or RS and you'll be intrigued at the range and the prices, considering our dollar is worth just over half of the USD$.

The listing reads as it's not an RS/RA. The listing says his other car is an RSRA, and he's selling this to fix the other one, this is just a rare GT BC5 because it has a sunroof. Basically, he says the engine runs a little rough because it hasn't been run in a while but will probably clear up. It was first registered sept. 1992. Has: front strut bar, tuned suspension, 15" alloys, broken AC, automatic with 54,000 km on it. Basically RSRA spec minus a few details. BIN for ~~$500... wow.

....my wife is Japanese.

I just came back from Japan (Tokyo area specifically) on Thursday. Yeah 500 USD for that is pretty good. You don't see too many older cars there due to the taxes on cars as they age.

I thought the inspection process was also brutal in Japan, like worse than Germany's TUV.
