Well on revtronix's website it says you could use the stock turbo for stage 2, but your best bet is to just get a cheap TD04 from a wrx, 440cc injectors, and get the IC in at the same time with the td04.

For a WRX td04 you need a silicone y-pipe that you will cut up and a 90 degree silicone coupler to get the intake to work.

Search the site for detailed instructions of the above parts.

Get:

JECS MAF
06-07 TMIC
eBay hose kit as shown in various threads, be prepared to "custom fit"
JDM 440cc injectors
Revtronix Stage 2 for the above setup and TD-04

It appears that various turbos within the TD-04 to VF-39 range work OK with the tuning, for instance I am running a VF-8.

Install all of this at once, and if your motor is old I highly recommend that you get new intake manifold gaskets, throttle body gasket, all engine bay vacuum lines, fuel hoses, and injector o-rings.

As I recall stock exhaust on a SS is 2"

I got the exhaust of a 07 STI and it was 2 1/2 inch. Its real quiet and perked up the motor a bit. Running stock boost until I do my Intercooler/Turbo swap so cant really say how it performs beyond 8psi.

I'm sure that temporarily the stock exhaust would be OK. It will just hurt spool times and overall performance.

I'm running a 3" catless DP and the 2.5" STi cat-back. It's quiet, and I am looking for something a bit more performance oriented, but stealthy.

Does a wrx have a 2.5" exhaust as well? Also the stock SS has a 2 1/4" exhaust. A wrx has 3 converters and a resonator. I am sure using a stock exhaust on the chip will be fine considering we only have 2 converters.

The WRX is the same size as the stock exhaust, IIRC.

how do you bolt the dp 3 inch with a 2.25 exaust? need adapter or something?

I had a new flat flange welded on the STi midpipe to match the flat 3" flange.

FYI any Impreza exhaust needs to be lengthened a few inches and the rear hangars repositioned to work on the Legacy.
