I saw this photo with a panel installed in the center console right below the a/c and heat controls and right above the radio and to the right of the headlight leveler switch. I think it has something to do with the headlights but am not sure at all.
And what the H M S lights stand for. And TANT or YANT on the other side means.
This is from an EDM 1996 legacy

Hour
Minute
Second
Antenna (it's not a T or a Y, it's a picture of an antenna)
I would assume the black space should have a digital clock in it, the Bright button adjusts the display for daytime vs night....
but I'm just guessing about all of this

Thanks.
Well... that makes sense other then the antenna part. Unless that is simply a manual control for the automatic antenna ? Which would normally be controlled by the radio? Why put antenna control on the clock ?

I've seen that before and I'm almost positive it replaces your cup holders so it's not as cool as it could be. I'd much rather have cup holders. My head unit will tell me what time it is and I could care less about the antenna because I hate the radio lol.

My Volvo 740 has a button for the antenna. I never quite understood that. But, then again, that is a car full of curiosities.

my 4runner has power antenna, with an up down switch in the dash. Coolest gadget ever

It's so you can go thru the car wash with the radio on, but the antenna down.
That console face also features a single-DIN stereo opening, I got one from Germany, but sold it on a few years ago to someone here.

Ant Launcher, Flashbang, Hyperdrive, Missiles, Smoke Grenades. North America always gets screwed on options.

Guesses are not completly correct
S = Set, not second!
And it does replace the cupholder, wich we in Europe never had. This panel is standard overhere.

Second setting?

It's not a lap timer.

So do you guys just not drink and drive or what? lol Where do you put your drinks when you're driving? Between your legs like that one chick who sued McDonalds over the burning of her vaj from spilling that coffee between her legs?

I'd rather have my drink holder, although it's a shitty place to put your drinks when it's right in front of you stereo so it's a bitch to change CDs with drinks in it.
But I don't see why they couldn't have put it in the dash elsewhere like Honda used to do in the early 90's.

I know the placement sucks but I located the aftermarket stereo in the lower area and put the pocket hight up so the drinks dont cover the radio

See, for some reason (maybe I'm slow) I installed mine in the upper section and put the compartment with the door on the bottom. I think that's how it was when I got it actually and I never changed it. Yeah, I'm stickin with that story.
That was in my old wagon. I'll put it in the lower section this time and see how that goes.
I've got a nice almost new Pioneer 800PRS in box waiting to go in as soon as the car is running.

You should realize that we live in a small country and don't drink very much inside the car.
Cupholders became populair in Europe just before the new millenium.

Very interesting. You can hardly find an american driving around without some sort of beverage in their cup holder or between their legs.
I usually just have my camelbak subaru water bottle sitting on the passenger seat so I don't use my cup holders much. I drink water almost exclusively so I guess I don't need cup holders either!

I can probably count the number of times I've used my cup holders.....

Well I have one of these clock inserts now. Have not installed it yet but it leaves space for the cupholder... now my question is. Anyone know what the wiring for this thing is ?

BMWs didn't have them for a long time. They had a mindset car is meant for driving and that's what you should be doing. I had make a cup holder for my e30 after spilling drinks on my lap on breaks at work too many times. It's not fun aiming heaters at your crotch trying to dry yourself off so everyone doesn't think you pissed yourself

A little thread necro.
Well, a minor update. I have had this for a while and would like to figure out what "all" the wires do. Right now with Yellow and Black hooked up to power the display is "on" but very dim. The "Bright" Button does nothing. The H changes the hour
M changes the minute
S resets the clock to 1:00
Changing the state of the buttons ANT and BRIGHT does not "close" a connection between any two wires...
The "clock" has a 7 pin plug, but only 6 wires are used.
Yellow: 12V +
Black: Ground
Blue:
White:
Green:
Red:
Now I don't know what Blue,White, Green, and Red are. I suspect some of the following.
One should be the Antenna.
Another perhaps dash light/dimmer
Other ideas ?

A minor update filling this out as I test carefully to not short something out
Applying 12v+ to Blue: The clock display brightens up, alot and is actually visible, both buttons seem to do nothing

I have a couple questions.
Is this only applicable for second gen cars or is there one for first gen ones as well?
Where did you get yours? I would like to try to get one. At that point I can probably help out a lot with wiring too.

Does it still leave 2.5DIN for the stereo and pocket below or is that space down to only 2 DIN with this added?
