Snow tires and valve lash adjusters

Snow Tires
Blilzzaks are a bit better for glare ice, while Michelin Arctic Aplins are a bit better on dry pavement. I like my Michelins, as they are a minimal sacrafice when the roads are bare and dry or just wet. I hate studs on an AWD hotrod, as I like to drive around pretty close to the limits of adhesion in the winter and studs get torn out by sliding around.
Valve Lash Adjusters
Hydraulics are great for up to about 6500 RPM, as they are self adjusting, cushiony and fairly idiot-proof. I don't know whether is is possible or practical to switch an EJ22T to solids. What is the valve train on the legendary Byron's EJ22T screamer?
I think it costs a lot to convert an EJ20G to solids through conventional channels. Let's hear from our readers in UK, OZ NZ etc on this subject. I have had good luch with getting fairly extensive modifications from local head rebuilding shops. I had the head done on an 84 Dodge (Mitsibishi) Colt (Lancer) turbo and they eliminated those pesky problematic MCA Jet valves for a nominal fee. Someday when I am feeling ambitious, I will take the damaged head off one of my EJ20G engines and see if a head shop would have a way of converting it to solids.
I noticed that the new USA WRX has quad cams, but the sales-kid couldn't answer my questions about cam followers. My son's 98 RS 2.5 has quad cams and soid lifters, but his heads say NA, which means that it is specifically a non-turbo head. I guess it took me a few hundred words to say that I don't know bear shit from apple butter, oh well.....
