Hello Legacy fanatics.

After a tip from another Dutch Legacy driver (“SP-boxer” on this forum) I decide to introduce myself at this forum.

(First: excuse for my English what is not always as good as I want ;) Tips are welcome)

I’m from the Netherlands.
I already found a lot of usefull information on this forum and I hope learn a lot more.

My Legacy stoy:

From my eighteenth I’ve got an 91’er Legacy. It was a 1.8 FWD in white.
After 2 years somebody made me an offer of a 93’er station (1.8 FWD) which has a conversion to an 2.0 Turbo. I decide to buy it and my white 91’er went in ‘long’ winter-sleep in my grandparents hanger.
After 3 years of a lot of fun and driving experience I want my 91’er Sedan more and more back (one of the reasons was the pass away of Colin MCrae)

So I decide to converse everything from my 93’er station to my 91’er sedan. Below the fast picture story of the conversion.
(the station body work was very bad, whit rust holes in the wheel arces etc. :( )

Ather almost 3 years out of her resting-place
(battery placed and the engine turns so beautiful after 3 years of standstill  )

Image

Back to my parents house! First clean up the garden and make a nice workspace 8)
Image
Image

Moved to the workspace
Image

Lift the car for 50 cm so I’ve got a nice height for working
Image
Image

In a couple of evenings the car was totally stripped.
Very nice to work a car from 91 and really NOTHING was broken or damaged by dismantle. (good job of subaru engeneers)

Image

The 1.8 engine
Image
Image
Image

Not so many pictures of the dismantle. When she was stripped she moved to the hanger and the donor was placed in a big-party tent from a friend of mine.
Cleaned everything from the red station, and place it back in the white sedan.
My workplace:

White one in the hanger.

Red one in the tent.

The ‘new’ black dashboard

White wheel arc just like the rally cars
Image

All the little stuff and the electric back in place in the cleaned white engine compartment.

Engine out of the station and cleaned up

Engine back in place in the white sedan

After that it goes really fast and the First meters where a fact!

Don’t look at the tires!!!! They are much to small but I want to know how the wheels will stand under my white sedan!
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Station became one with the garden :(
Image

So the project gets to his end.
(tried with and without spoiler, not really sure what I want)
Image

Image

Image

After that weak I went to the Inspection and it accepted in one time.
Image

After it, there were some little things:

Shorted exhaust
Image

New bigger en special made intercooler
Image
Image
With the little original in front of it
Image

Removed the 16” wheels and put the 17” inch back on it to make some pictures
(still the little tires)

And my Memorial to the biggest rally driver ever, Colin MCrae

Final specs of the car:

Interior:

Very nice car, welcome. I'm so jealous of the EDM trunk lid and it's lack of the giant ugly garnish.

For turbo bumpers, if no one has one here, you could try www.car-part.com—it's a national US recycling yard parts search. Don't know how the yards are about shipping internationally, but it might be worth contacting a few of them. The bigger ones would probably be willing to do it, though the cost might not be worth it and there's the question of condition, so I'd definitely ask for pictures if you find one.

The black dash came out of your wagon?

Refresh my memory guys, did we ever get USDM Legacies with black dashes?

I'm definitely going to a black dash now. I was considering it before, as my dash is showing its age a bit, and was considering have an upholstery shop paint/stain it. That looks awesome!

Very nice result! Car looks great!

Ya sweet JDM legacy!!!!

I think my car has a black dash unless I am colour blind. My wagon definitely had a grey dash. I am pretty sure only 94's had the black dash, maybe 93's too.

I don't like the scoop in the bonet so much
I'd love to have the jdm bumpers but it's to hard to find :x

No, the wagon had also a grey dashbord, this wagon was original also a 1.8.
The black dashbord came out a facelift 93/94 legacy Turbo.
I'm not sure if we had EUDM Legacy pre-facelift with black dashes

92-94 SS had the option for a black interior. My dad has one in his 92 SS, I want to steal SO badly.

My '93 ss and '94 TW have black dashes and in the past others on LCO have had their black dashes for sale.

Time for a very big update here.
Some big changes are done in the previous year.

After the rebuild and swap from the red to the white legacy I drove some months till my engine broke down...
Because I was really busy with my study I didn't had time for the car so I left it an half year.

After finishin my study I started with rebuilding a full closed deck block with better parts to make a reliable setup.

Short list of the engine:
2.0 closed deck
RA-heads
ACL race bearings
The more reliable WRX-coils
STi-connectiing rod
550 yellow sidefeed injector
TD05H-18G MHI Turbo
Group-A exhaust manifold
Chip with max 7800 rpm, launch control, knock warning etc
Complete RVS 3" Mongoose exhaust
Hand made ALU front(water) intercooler

The engine:

Cleaned engine compartiment

After that I finaly painted my US turbo front bumper which I bought from one of the bbs members (Legacy Rally Guy) Now even more happy with this part! :D
(rear bumper project wil be for the upcoming summer.

Some other specs on the car. and some new!

STI aluminium whisbones
Whiteline 22mm front and rear swaybars
Whiteline endlinks front and rear
H-Brace
WRX shocks with TI-2000 springs
Rear legacy spec-B brakes
Searching for the Legacy spec-B front brakes

Full black turbo interior
VDO gauges
Sparco steeringwheel
Impreza STi seats
placed rear seat in the garage

Exterieur
Original US Legacy Turbo frontbumper
2 sets Speedline 17" wheels (gold and black)
1 set Compomotive 17"

And more...
And plans enough

The differnce between the EU en the US turbo 8)

Next month I hope to post some action pictures, because I'm going to take my rally-driving license! 8)
And will do some trackdays this year!

Think that is it for now

"And US bumper" that's funny reading that. Its rare to see someone stoked on USDM parts. Cool.

Haha, yeah, but the US turbo bumper looks much better then the EU or non turbo bumper :-D
I prefer the RS bumper, but that one is impossible to find :(

It was indeed a hell of a job to get it, but I finally have them here :)

You're probably the only one. I agree the non turbo ones look like crap.

I want a set of those headlights, just can't really justify $300 for them. :) I'd buy some new bushings or save up for some real brakes before spending that much on headlights. After I sanded and buffed and polished mine they look new and function much better than before so I'm not too worried about them.

Timo, time to ad a lip and foggies to that front bumper. That would set it off!
