Cheap synchro fix for me

My brother recently told me that he had put some of the Zmax treatment in with his last oil change in his v-10 Dodge pickup. He ended up getting around 2 mpg better out of it and this got my attention. Zmax had a special going and I got some of the stuff along with the tranny formula, ps and small engine formula. I really was hoping for some mileage increase which hasn't happened that I can tell. The big surprise was my gears don't grind anymore. I had issues with 2nd and 5th gear grinding consistently with an occasional grind downshifting to 3rd. It took a little while to take effect, but I am really pleased with the outcome. I have even run an autocross with no problems and that is where I first started having issues.

The bottle of the transmission formula you have to get from Zmax for some reason, but it was only around $5 if I remember right. Cheap fix if you ask me. Carroll knows what he is talking about.

You're in Missouri too.. nice! Might I ask where you autocross?

Hmm, I dont think there'd be a mpg increase, but if your old gear lube was pretty gone, I could definitely see this helping, if not, I'd like to look into this... I've heard our gearboxes were quite picky on what lubrication you use, because not only do we have the gears to contend with but the viscous diff AND front diff to keep happy... Definitely keep us posted on this, since you're going to be putting that gearbox through it's paces with autocross.

You know me, we have pm'd a bunch. The autocross I went to was an SCCA event that was east of Independence on 23rd st. The place was a police driver training facility. Beat the heck out of a big open parking lot as they had numerous pads with interconnecting roads.

The lube in my tranny is fresh Amsoil 75w90 which did nothing for the grinding gears until I did the zmax.

I don't know how much I will be autocrossing, but I will do it again. Ton of fun. I need to work on the handling of the car as stock 230,000 mile struts don't cut it. I am looking for 04 sti struts like subychris put on his. check out our cars in the multimedia section. He posted them there after we ran the autocross under an autocross subject line.
