WTB Sunroof In Good Condition

Anybody got a sunroof for a 91 SS?
Not sure if they're different for SS or TW or different years but mine is toast. I removed it today to find out that one of the cables is siezed or broken and that's the reason it's not working. I lubed the tracks up and the hinge thing that pops it up and got it to move a little and that's when I found out that only one side is working and that's why it won't open.
So I think I need a whole new sunroof. Doesn't look like you can replace the cables easily.

Hey on craigslist there's a guy parting out a TW, he wanted $75 for the whole sunroof assembly. Not sure if they're the same part as on a SS, though.

I think I saw that guy. I didn't see a price for the sunroof but I did email him. Was it the guy who said to leave a number for him to call back at because he didn't have the internet but would check his email every few days?
I didn't give him my number because I am sick of people calling me while I'm sleeping during the day and waking me up.
$75 isnt' a bad price but I think that guy was north of Seattle so that's a couple hour drive....Not to mention I can't imagine stuffing that huge thing in my metro without it hitting me in the head all the way home.

Sheesh, the both of you turn to Craiglist instead of the forums, like my
94 TW part out thread?

Found it interesting the both of you responding to my craiglist posting for the sunroof too, LOL

My bad, I didn't realize it was you. I wasn't "turning to craigslist over the forums" lol. I was merely trying to get a sunroof faster.
So did you fix the leak or just seal the roof shut? From what you wrote, I think you fixed the leak. Is it tinted? Maybe we could meet up sometime and I could take a look at it and probably buy it off you.
Do you know if it's the same as the sedan sunroof?

No no, not ghetto "fixing" by sealing the whole thing shut. I fixed the problem and maintained the use of a sunroof which can actually open and not leak! yes, it has the standard light tint to it.
Looking at the subaru part manual, it says there were 2 sunroof models -- both which went into the 1990 - 1994 years. One part number went into all of the 4D 2WD and 4WD bodies, while another went into the SW 2WD and 4WD models. Interesting the TW column doesn't state it came with a sunroof, when they clearly did, yet the SW row has a turbo column and the sunroof is marked there. Go figure.
4D - Four Door Sedan
SW - Station Wagon
TW - Touring Wagon

I see what you're talking about. It doesn't show a 1 in TW catagory. I thought only the TW was turbo? Not the regular SW?
To replace the pipe assembly which is what moves the glass back and forth is $82.76 and the part numbers are different for sedan and wagon.
65451AA000 Sedan
65451aa010 Wagon
I wonder what is different? Makes me think they may not be compatible with each other.
Anybody installed a wagon sunroof into a sedan?

Sunroof complete assemblies are also different part number, of course.
65410AA080 Sedans $647.11
65410AA100 Wagons $1,045.50
Holy shit!

I think there's gotta be a difference in the sunroofs if the wagon one is almost 2X the price of the sedan sunroof.
It also clearly states on 1stsubaruparts.com that one is sedan and the other part number is wagon. So I guess that probably settles it, I'm guessing they're not interchangeable.
According to the parts manual every model had a sunroof except the L models and the Touring Wagon. Which apparently doesn't come with a turbo.
Yup, says in the book turbos only came on 2WD and 4WD sedans and 4WD wagons but not the Touring Wagon.
Pretty spendy piece too.
14412AA070 VF11 Turbo $1,042.43
Number 11 at the bottom.

you should be able to swap the guts over. I think the differences are in the way it mounts or bolts up to the roof.

I also found in checking out first gen Legacies in person that at least some of the pre-facelift moonroof glass had a bronze tint whereas the post-facelift models came with the bluish tint. I say "some" because I just don't know if ALL pre-facelifts came with bronze but the 4 or 5 I saw were definitely bronze in tint, whereas all of the post-facelifts ones I saw were definitely bluish when looking from the inside out.
To some individuals, the color tint may not matter but if you like looking through the moonroof and seeing a deep blue sky versus a brownish sky, the color of glass can make a big difference.

Sorry Chris, when I saw your part out on LC I posted about the engine then went back and saw your engine was sold - and edited my message. Didn't think about the sunroof at that time. I ended up buying a SS listed in the partshed (matt monson's old ride, minus the 20g engine) and the seller included an extra sunroof.

Extra Sedan sunroof you say? You want to sell it?

You're correct. I don't know which trims got which tin but it states in the parts manual which years and trims have which color tint, either bronze or blue.

I have a SS assembly I'd part with for 40 bucks, are you going to reuse your glass that I'd part with? 60 with glass. But it would be a couple weeks before I can get it to the Seattle area.

So you have the whole thing and it works good? I'll take it. My glass looks good, I haven't taken it apart but I think I know how it comes apart. Maybe just in case I'll just buy the whole thing from you and have a spare glass.
Does that mean you're coming over here in a couple weeks? I could probably meet you somewhere up north.

Actually I'm here now, but I'm looking for work. I'll be going back home in Idaho and bringing things back.

Hey I'm back in Idaho now and thought about the sunroof stuff. Still want it? I know it works and slides but no idea if it leaks. I bought the car for a rally project and ripped it out in the garage before rain hit it. A tube of silicone is only like 3 bucks... to freshen it up before it goes in.

Yeah, I'll take it. Are you coming back over here? Because shipping would be ridiculous.

Yeah I'll be coming over in a week. You wouldn't happen to have any 15 in wheels you want to get rid of do you?

Nope, sorry. I've just got the turbo wheels that came on my car which I was hoping would fit my snow tires and be my winter wheels and then I was going to buy a set of Rota Volk knockoffs with new tires for my street driving.

Hope you're alright. That's fine, no big deal. Not really in a hurry. If the car was running I'd be more worried about having a sunroof but it's not and won't be for who knows how long.
