New Paint Scheme- Opinions

Hey,

My hood and roof were faded and the clear coat was peeling, so I dropped it off at a shop and had them spray the hood and roof in black. (I had just sprayed it off with the hose, so don't mind the water drops)

What do you think? I also put my legacy 2.5i wheels on it, but I feel the GT snowflakes I had looked better.

-I was thinking the grille looked out of place, thinking of painting it black.
-I will also be tinting the windows all the way around, thinking of staying somewhat legal at 30%.
-Putting some fog lights where the jdm fog lights were in the bumper (even though it is a n/a bumper) but using some hella black magics or just some hella 500's (because I have them)

Hmmm... I say either make it all black or all winestone...

And I think those wheels look better if it was lowered.

The issue with keeping the hood the same color is color matching. The original paint is so faded the hood would have stuck out like a sore thumb.

Oh, and I am working on the drop.

keep the roof black and paint the hood winestone.

Why the hell didn't you jusat have them paint it the right color?

I think the black roof would look good. But for some reason I hate different colored hoods than the rest of the car. On any car.

Odd, huh.

Get some more pictures, if you had mentioned painting the roof, I wouldn't have noticed in that picture.

It's the job of the body shop to match the paint to the car, not to a color chip. If they couldn't match and blend the paint, they're not a good shop.

Yeah, what Steve said. not to mention all shops have those color match scanners like they have at home depot so they actually match paint by starting with the color code and then letting the scan tell them what to add remove to get the closest match.

I worked at a body shop for a few years, I hate doing it, so I dropped it off at a friends shop who owed a favor. He worked for a major chevy dealership for years, so he knows his stuff. If he blended, it would have cost money for paint and his labor, and it would still be different, 1994 paint and new shiny new paint doesn't go well together.

He also had extra black paint around, so this is what I went with.

I don't know—1990 and 2004 medium-dark blue metallic didn't seem to have much trouble, but if you're happy with the black, then that doesn't matter.

I like it, in fact I might steal your idea, I was gonna wrap my roof in black vinyl anyway, maybe I'll just get a bit more and do my peeling hood and my trunk. Would be cheaper than painting it, and I might like the look.

The black does seem to get hotter, at least the flat black part of my GL seemed hotter than the red parts after sitting in the sun, but I'd leave it in the shade for a while before banging your girlfriend on the hood no matter what the color.

Well obviously, but he's acting like there's no such thing as a black car.

different pics at a different angle, please!....its hard to see the roof.

I painted my winestone wagon hood with a rattle can, it was color matched to the car. Didnt even look that bad at all.

Uuuuuuuh....since when did they make black cars? Where have I been all these years!
