what size tires work w/ stock struts?

I have some 17" rims with 225/45/17 tires. We had to hammer in the struts just to get those on, and that was our only option at that point in time. So I need to know if 215s will work with the stock struts or if I need 205s?

For 17's: you can run either 205/45/17 or 215/40/17

Dang...

I have a set of 225/45s I was going to try to throw on my new car, too. Oh well, saved me the trouble.

yea, DONT do that haha we hammered in that "guard" on the strut and it still rubs when cornering "aggressively".

"guard" = spring seat

depends on the struts. some give more clearance than others. 205/55-16 on a +55 wheel was the biggest size I had with stock struts and there was barely any room at all to the rear spring perch. 225 fit on my stock 98 GT struts but might not have on my BC.
