Bad starter? edit: nope

Went out to move my 91 into the garage and it won't start. It has been sitting for about 5 days. I hear the solenoid in the starter click but it won't turn. I looked at the grounds and they look okay (though I will check again tomorrow when it's light out) and I tapped the starter with a hammer to no avail. Is it time for a new starter or is there something else I should check? Have had no problems with the car since I got it in March, it's always cranked over immediately.

Also, just for grins, I started pulling plug wires, and the wire in cylinder #1 has what appears to be a small amount of oil around it. I figure now my best bet is to replace the plugs and wires (I have spares on the shelf) but I'm wondering if there is anything else I should do to prevent this from happening.

Thanks!

What was the battery voltage? If you can put a charger on it, and it starts, you may have just had a weak battery.

The solenoid on the starter is usually what goes out. You can replace the contacts very inexpensively, and have a good starter.

You win the prize. Just hooked up the charger and it started right away. Not sure why I didn't try that before posting. Thanks!
