guys just got offered a set of bilstien inserts real cheap, the guy said i would have to cut out the old inserts and put in the new? anyone ever done that let me know guys.

Bilstein makes real good stuff. I've never done it with a subaru, but i've
done inserts on a Toyota Celica (that's a hell of a car to work on!). You're
going to need a vice, and some heavy dudy locking pliers.

cut out the old inserts?.... there are no inserts as std, the strut is a sealed complete unit. once you cut the top of this all the old internals come out to which the new inserts slides in.
yes i did it on my previous subaru liberty.
you will need spring compressor to remove/install the springs, a hacksaw to cut off the top of the strut and a large drill bit for the hole on the bottom of the oem strut to which a bolt goes through into the new insert.
