Shift knob/boot upgrade

I've seen quite a few shift knobs, but don't really care for them.

I saw this one at Genuine Subaru Parts, and it's close to what I'm looking for.

Would a 95+ shifter fit, or was there a change in the shaft or threading?

Also, I'm not really rocking the accordion shift boot. Are there leather ones available?

Subie shifter knobs are all the same as far as threads go, use whatever appeals to you.

There's not really a direct bolt-on for the shift boot, but you can use a generic leather one... there's little nubs under the console around the opening, poke holes in the leather gaiter and fasten it to the inside of the console with small zip ties.

I got this Zerosport gaiter on Ebay, & installed it as described. Note the WRX shift knob, also.

I highly recommend the legacy GT (newer, not sure what year probably 02+ or something) shift knob along with the STI shift boot and aluminum trim piece. Looks great.

Plus since it's leather wrapped it's not cold or hot when you put your hand on it like those stupid metal ones. Very nice quality too.
