TD04 would be a good improvement performance wise over the VF11, without really reducing fuel economy. But it is a gateway drug - leads to many $$$ in other related improvements..Intercooler, bigger fuel injectors, intake mod, freer flowing exhaust..
If you really like your's stock, I'd recommend keeping with the VF11 - it'll save you so much money in the long run.
The VF11 really isn't an in demand turbo, so you should be able to pick up one really cheap, much cheaper than rebuilding one, if that's even possible.
EDIT: looks like you got bit by the modding bug. Get the TD04!!

well you see i have all of those mods already . i just cant decide on what i wana do with my vf11 .. fix it up a bit or swap it out for a td04 .. ?
i have been told to stay with the vf11 for the safty of my 5 speed .. and for the auto x events that are to come in the spring.
so really i quess i just wana freshen up the vf11 so its good as new for spring time auto x beat downs !

A td04 will perform just as good and better then a VF11 yet better top and can push more CFM and boost.

Okay, just stop it! You're taking all the fun out of my addiction!
The TD04 is a small upgrade and cheap u$ed....but if I were going to do it again, I'd go bigger initially....since you've got to redo the plumbing anyway.
Rebuilding a VF11 is not the best use of your 'mod' money....if it's even possible.

If you're going to redo the intake plumbing, I probably would recommend a TD05. low end spool is still pretty good, and has more flow.

Yeah but TD05 is expensive compared to TD04. I saw a TD04 on NASIOC a couple days ago for $80 plus shipping with only 23,000 miles on it and it looked to be in excellent condition and had no shaft play.
That's not usually how much they go for though so that was a steal, I almost bought it and I've already got one with even less miles that I paid $140 shipped for.
Generally I see them from $100-140 shipped depending on the seller, milage and condition.
TD05 is quite a bit more. I just checked NASIOC and looked at like 8 of them and they ranged from $450-$700 shipped. So that's quite the difference in price.

Yea, I was initially going to go with the TD05 But If I can pick up the TD04, Injectors, JECs, and Revtronix for about the same price, if not cheaper, I will definately do that. Later on down the road I can get a TD05 when money isn't as much as an issue and get the revtronix "updated".
