lets say i have 250-400hp. will an 92 turbo legacy automatic or 5sp last "longer" and by 5sp none that came from a wrx, just basic 5spd's. and driving style would be rare-hard slamming/ high rpm shifts, maby just "gettin on the throttle easily"

Auto will probably last longer. Unless you get a 03 wrx+ tranny. You say you will be easy on it ya ok.

The auto would really hold up with ease using the reprogramming kit from TransGo. It needs to be installed by someone experienced with autos though. Other basic things can make it hold much more too.

IPT does phase 2 transmissions, which ultimately are not desirable when it comes to a performance automatic. 250-400 whp is quite a range in power capability too.
With computer control, a phase one subaru automatic can be made to support 700+ whp. With a full manual valve body, 1000+ whp is achievable. It costs some good coin, but nowhere near what it costs to have BMS Transmissions send you a unit from AU.
