hey yall, alright ive got a 22t motor with 25d heads. and right now im running the stock 25d cams and boosting a 50trim garrett.
i have a chance to get a set of JDM WRX EJ20G turbo cams for cheap. i know the overlap between NA and Turbo cams is around 10 degree's on subarus (i think) witch will help with keeping more boost in the cylinders longer witch will make more power, but how much?
but my question is, how much of a performance gain do you think i would optain with swapping these cams?
motors already out of the car cause i was fixxing a oil leak and was just thinkin about the cams.
THANKS LC!!!

i know for sure that red devil is running ej20h heads on his wagon but he put the ej25d exhaust cams in the heads. I think the reason is because the exhaust cam has a longer duration or shorter, for better performance. You can contact Subaru rally guy aka delta cams, a vendor on here, can help you with your questions.

Matt Monson told us that only EJ20K cams swap with EJ25D cams, due to the shim over bucket design. Unless you have the early hydraulic 25D heads, and the 20G cams can swap.
I don't know the details, but I've been burnt enough times not listening to Matt that I won't anymore. My guru only knows new stuff, so I've been burned a few times.
When I have the cheese, I will send mt cams to Delta and have do what they can do on a stock valvetrain. I don't want to spend $1500 on valves, springs, retainers, etc.

thank you guys for the replys, i should have clarified witch 25d heads im running. they are the older style HLA heads out if a 97LGT.
ive found out that ferria.com makes cams, retainers, duel valve springs and valves for these heads. but i have to agree with you Dan its a pretty penny to spend.
ive thought about taking my cams to delta and seeing what they can do but i have yet to get around to doing it. i would like a nice set of 272's witch would make my car sound nuts. lol

Hey are you sure that you have the older HLA heads? Everyone I've talked to said, and all the ones I've seen were ONLY on 1996 Legacys. Although I could imagine Subaru using "surplus" old style heads on early year model 1997's, never seen/heard of that.

Just for clarification... Yes Andy is running the 96 Heads.
Yes Andy I'm sure. I'm the one who told you about the car you pulled them from

Since I am also looking to put the EJ25D heads w/shim over bucket on, but would like to run Turbo cams, please clarify that 'swap' means 'plug and play', correct? They don't need a grind of any sort?
Thanks

They should not need any grinding. the casting is almost identical.

You'll want to check your valve clearance. .008 intake, .010 exhaust.
