A really vague and undetailed ABS issue.

Okay, I've recently aquired a 1990 LGT. It's not without a few issues, and one of them is the ABS is playing up. I'm a complete n00b when it comes to ABS diagnosis since I've never owned a car that has had it (personal preference really) so I'm in a bit of a bind with it.

Okay, what I have is the ABS light comes on after I've applied and depressed the brake pedal when I'm driving. And it stays on. And that's it. At first I thought it was because of the left front tyre was really down on pressure and with the different rotational speed it was confusing the system. But I've eliminated that one with no luck.

Now I know that an exact and correct solution isn't going to happen with what little info I can provide, but what various scenarios would cause the ABS light to come on after braking? Bung wheel sensor? ABS module? Control unit?

You need to check the ABS computer to let it tell you why it came on.

Not sure if these diagnostic procedures will work on the non-us based legacies. It's worth a try.

Considering how similar the cars are, I stand a fair chance. Thanks for the link though!

Or not. Followed the procedure and got nothing. It seems I'll have to leave the ABS till last once I sort out the other problems.

Is there an LED on the ABS unit?

Wait. You mean there's supposed to be an LED on the ABS unit itself?

Motherfucker. I'll find out in the morning.

Yes, on the ABS computer, they should be a little green LED light that flashes to indicate the codes. You are supposed to be able to flip up a little section of carpet to see it.

Okay, now I feel like a moron. I've been looking at the warning light on the cluster!
