Gas Tank Size?

I tried searching for this but came up empty for a 1/2 hours time. So any links or answers are appreciated. What is the size of our gas tank? and do the vary through 90-94? I have a 92 ss. The reason i ask is i might be going on a 1400 mile (round trip) road trip and i'm trying to calculate fuel costs.

15.9 for the 91. No idea if they change from year to year but I highly doubt it.

haha! I usually get 15 or 16. I usually get into boost alot and i got about 15. So i went through half a tank of hardly getting into boost at all. Maybe once or twice and I got 16... I dont get it haha

I used to get around 18 MPG, now down to 14-ish.

I would love to get 18 again.

I wonder whats causing that. Do you drive hard? "Fuel related" maintenance kept up?

Ive done K&N, 02 sensor, fuel pump, fuel filter, etc.. and still get 15-16 reguardless how I drive it seems

Thinking of the MPG I'm going to get in this car while paying like $0.30 more per gallon is not comforting to me coming from driving the 1.0 3cylinder metro hatchback.

The Mazda gets 30+ driving fast-normal. Duchess got 25 driving like an asshole (in a manner that I don't think the Mazda would be able to sustain for 50k, never mind 150k), 23 when I went to running the turbo engine as N/A and driving about the same. Going for 30 with the turbo installed and a few aero mods.

I am wondering how the exhaust affects mileage. After taking apart my exhaust it is apparent the exhaust manifold can have leaks after so may year causing the o2 sensor to tell the ecu to run rich.

dammit. i'm starting to question if i want to do my setup now. 3in. DP 440cc injectors and td04. sounds like i will get worse gas mileage :(

you certainly will, especially if you are in boost all the time... which its very hard not to be even with this damn puny vf11

I don't drive very hard, I think it needs some stuff like the 02 sensor done etc, I will look at that stuff soon.

Got a new radiator installed a month ago, and it idles a lot better now.

Think about it as in how many more smiles per mile your new setup will give you.

I test drove an STI a while back and I swear I'd have the biggest grin if I got to take that home every night. Effortless power (to me, an owner of a currently stock SS)

so is the gas tank size 16 gallons for cars 90-94? i filled up last night and the gas needle was almost on the very last white line and i only filled up 11.35 gallons i believe it was?!?!?!?!?! does that mean my gas gauge is off or can we go past the last white line?

Posted: Wed Jan 20, 2010 8:32 pm
by mike-tracy
Probably both. You can go past the white line. When I just started driving my dad taught me to not let it go that far because you're letting the tank be filled with dirty air.

Most I've ever filled my subaru was 15.1 gallons.

yea... the guages on these things are really wierd. I am starting to doubt their accuracy more and more everytime I go to the pump. So I just calculate my mileage.
