ive seen it on a few stis but i was wondering if anyone has attempted this with a leggy... probably only possible with the DOHC? lookin for opinions and any complications.

I'm thinking about attempting this myself.

Yes, its possible. Requires relocation of a/c and possibly power steering i believe. There isnt many benefits other than mainly a shorter fmic routing.

Basically, if youre to this point, you have done everything else in the build. Including DOHC swap.

yeah true... i've already removed my AC completely. im not too worried about benefits actually. i just wanted to do it cuz it looks nice.

i really need to find out what belt those sti guys are running for their alternator/pwr steering

I'm guessing probably just whatever random size belt fits from the nearest auto parts place.

Keep in mind that everything is flipped. The STi's are easy since there is no IAC valve. Your factory fuel lines are going to be a pain to figure out. You may have to extend some wires.

My friends that have done it on their newer Subarus made a bracket to mount the alternator where the AC compressor was, and used a pulley to keep the belt low enough in the middle to clear the piping. STi's can actually keep the AC if you drop the alternator all the way down.

You only save two or three feet of piping in the process though.

Does the throttle body clear the hood? I thought it came up to high due to the angle, but that conversation was long ago. Could just be an issue with the SOHC, maybe.

I don't know if the older intakes with the slanted plenum would clear or not. Someone might have to experiment to find out. It won't be me, though.

After finding out my hood won't even close all the way after the EJ20G swap with 8mm phenolic spacers, I really doubt you'd ever get a rotated manifold to clear your hood and a DOHC swap.

Not worth the effort, time or money let alone headache and frustration you'd go through for little to no real gains.
