My 1993 Legacy Wagon

Just wanted to introduce myself, I am Jester808. I am not new to Subarus, but I am new to Legacy's. I spend all my time on NASIOC. While browsing for my next project car on Craigslist, I happened across this White Pearl Wagon with only 80k on the odometer. She was in rough shape, but after a couple weeks of cleaning and tuning her up, she is now my new Daily Driver. No more gas guzzling Truck for me thankfully :).

I have spent most of my time on these boards soaking up all the information Legacy Central has to offer, it is by far the best source of knowledge I have ever come across for a specific model. No other Forum comes close, I love it.

This is the best After shot I have, I will post up more Before and After shots in the 'Build Journal' section when I get more parts rolling in, which should be here in the next few weeks. Thanks for reading, I hope to enjoy my stay!

Wow, sweet ride. Lowered? Are those side graphics factory?
More pics ASAP! :D

Welcome to the BBS Jester. As you have noticed, there's just crazy amounts of info on here.

On a side note, you going to be bringing the Legacy the Gillman shop day? I'm planning to be there with my Legacy.

Hey there Legacy777, I will be at Shop Day all day, I look forward mostly to checking out your Legacy!

The 'Turbo' graphics on the Side are factory, I will have better Side shots when I do a comparison between the Stock Suspension and the Coilovers I am installing this weekend. In the picture it is lowered on deflated Air Struts .

<3 your rims

I <3 the rims too :). Chromed 14" Steelies, 2-Step Lip, +38 Offset. I love driving this Legacy around a lot more than any of my Impreza's. It feels a lot more stout. My normal plan of action when I get a new Subaru is usually some crazy build, but I like this Legacy just the way it is. I only plan on Suspension and Drivetrain mods, nothing else.

wait, why would the "turbo" badge be from the factory? I've never seen it before, and why isn't there a scoop?

Beats me, the whole damn thing is wierd. I bought it from a church lady who has owned it since new. I doubt she did any kind of mods on it, so I am assuming it is factory. It is equipped with an EJ22E, so it is a non-turbo. I can't wait for Legacy777 to check it out next weekend so I can see what he thinks.

That is odd. You should check to see if it used to have an EJ22T. I could easily see an old lady or even a middle age woman or any woman for that matter (lol) replacing a bad turbo engine with a cheap EJ22E and never noticing the difference.

Does it have the turbo bumper on the front? I think it does. I wonder why they would replace the hood though.

But if they replaced the engine, it would just be the block, not everything else. The special editions had turbo front bumpers. I recall seeing those side graphics or something similar years ago for sale for European market WRX/Impreza turbos billed as OEM (JDM?). Might have been for gray market WRX imports to the UK or something as well.

A mystery indeed. I haven't thought to check the Plate yet. In any case it'll be boosted by the end of March. I'm picking up a TD04 this weekend, I already have a GTSpec Unequal Length Header and Up-pipe, JDM WRX Crossmember in the garage, as well as an APS 3" TBE on order. I still have an STI Ver. II TMIC with Samco Sport Hoses from my old EJ20G. The only thing left to order is a TurboXS DTEC and somehow going to my Parents House and figuring out how to swindle away my little sisters old Gameboy SP .

Thanks for the Info so far guys. I thought about the changing of engines too, EJ22T to an EJ22E, but to go as far as replacing the Hood as well? Maybe they took it to a dealer to have it done and they swindled them into paying extra to have the Hood replaced, possibly stating that the Hood Scoop is 'unnecessary'?

Nice ride, it's cool finding a car this old with 80k miles, kinda like when I got mine at 88k, makes you feel really special. As far as the graphics, maybe this was dealer installed to give the illusion it was a turbo for people who couldn't afford the turbo version, IDK. Does this have the turbo pin striping? I also noticed your side mirrors are body colored, that's sweet.

If it has air suspension I'd question whether it was originally a turbo. However, anything could be. We could check things out via the VIN. I can also bring my select monitor and we can read the ECU too.

That would be awesome Legacy777, thanks man. :D

I are confused .

About what?

I was confused as to why there would be Turbo graphics on the side without it being Turbocharged. I don't think it ever had an EJ22T, between the NA Hood and Grille, oh, and the VIN plate reading EJ22E, I got confused . Well, there is only one remedy to the situation and that's to boost it, besides, I don't want to look like a poser with the Turbo graphics and no Turbo :p.

Got my Tein Coilovers in, I'd go and install them now real quick, but damn it's windy and cold.

Yeah, it's freaking crazy windy and cold.

So currently you have the air suspension?

If you still have it by the shop day, I'm curious what the select monitor will say. I've got a cartridge that will read that computer as well I believe.

definately keep us updated on what you find out. I am so puzzled by those turbo badges.... I know its not those ones at like schucks that the honda kids buy haha.... and I don't see why an old lady would put those on there.... that is crazy

I've actually seen some old ladies do some surprising things to their cars, even bought a 260Z from one who added the rear spoiler, slotted 5-spoke wheels, rear window louvers, and had her name (Annette) painted on the door (thankfully absent when I bought it). Could have been one of those.

Yeah, I saw an old lady driving a riced out Honda hatch back the other day. Slammed, 5 inch exhaust tip, low pro tires, tinted windows, hokey graphics, big ass wing on top, the whole 9. I figured she was borrowing her grandsons car, but who's to say?
