Software Update

I'm going to be moving us to the new version of phpBB in the very, very near future. Things are going to look quite a bit different, and expect them to be shifting and changing until I'm satisfied with the layout and features. I'm hoping that it will be somewhat painless, but that's probably a bit too much to ask.

Thanks for your patience.

I've not been able to find a style that's as simple, clean, and legible as this one, unfortunately. I'll keep looking, but right now we really need to upgrade, so that's less important than the update itself now.

How does this one suit your fancy?

http://demo.phpbb3styles.net/DVGFX

or

http://demo.phpbb3styles.net/DVGFX2

The second leaves more room for customization in the header, which I can use.

That site is where I'll find the eventual replacement for this primary template, for better or worse.

melankolia is nice too, i think the dark grey is kind of dull, and the last one is pretty cool too... unfortunately it's called twilight....... stupid vampires.

I like the DVGFX2 or the Melankolia the most.

However, my personal preference is second to the update that is needed to keep the BBS the functioning community it is. You decide and we'll deal with it as need be.

Thanks too for all the work you and the admins put into this forum.

I'm kinda liking this one, since it's easy to read -

http://demo.phpbb3styles.net/AeroBlue

I think that this one is the default -

http://demo.phpbb3styles.net/subsilver2

or maybe this one is -

http://demo.phpbb3styles.net/prosilver

I'm leaning towards AeroBlue and prosilver, as the search field is conveniently accessible!

I noticed that all of the themes you picked are dark ones which can be difficult to read. If you go with that, please be so kind as to off us a light one also.

It's sad to think we can't keep this layout. Some of those new layouts are alright but I like the basic and have grown quite fond ot it.

Hopefully there's not too much downtime during this crossover or I might go through withdrawals...

We will always have subsilver2 or prosilver, as they are the default style and a fallback. It's also nice for those who don't prefer the white-on-black style that many of us consider much easier on the eyes.

DVGFX2 seems to be the favorite at the moment.

I think I like DVGFX2 the best. I don't care for the big icons in front of the forums....but maybe that can be tweaked.

The prostylize_darkgrey and twilightBB don't appear to work on older browsers (IE6).

The AeroBlue is nice for a light background theme.

Dave,

I see they just launched the 3.0.7 version. Are you running 3.0.6 currently? I just launched my board so I don't know how fast I need to get to this this newer version.

We're not running 3, we're running 2. That's how old school we are.

You should at least be running .6. .7 adds a few minor tweaks and fixes but isn't as large a step as .6 was over all previous 3.x versions.

The update is done.

Many changes are bound to happen from this point on, but the heavy work is done.

Enjoy the new software, it's really quite a bit better.

Oh, and I know that search isn't working. I'll run an indexing overnight.

Loved the "view posts since your last visit" button but not finding it now. Am I blind?
