I currently have a 92 touring wagon with ~350,000km been running 9-10psi for the past 30,000 and its currently running strong with a slight issue (believe its knock sensor)
a buddy and I were offered a running 91 turbo sedan with stock 5speed and lsd rear diff (my buddy has a 92 turbo auto sedan) for $1000
so we were thinking of buying it as a parts car $500 each he gets full tranny swap i get motor and lsd plus what ever little bits we need before parting out the car and scrapping it

now i dont need a motor but was thinking of grabbing the ej22t and slowly building it up on an engine stand before swapping it into my wagon and selling my old motor

do you guys think this is a good plan/idea and what would you do to build up the motor
i was thinking dohc heads with td04 or td05 and redo all seals for a mild but quick swap

I would take the motor, strip it down all the way and clean it. Use the stock crank if in good shape, but have it ground .010' over and use .010 oversized ACL Race Bearings all around. Use forged rods and pistons....and probably cap off the oil squirters. Swap over DOHC heads with possibly an under the manifold intake.

I would probably do a stroker motor, but the above is a little easier, cheaper and should yield a strong motor capable of big power.

Some tuners also cap off the oil squirters. As to why.....I don't really have a definitive reason. They can sometimes come loose and cause problems. But if you're rebuilding the motor, you can use loctite on them to keep them tight.

There are a couple reasons to cap the oil squirters. One, I have seen them come out before, and you start starving the crank bearings of oil when that happens, and spin bearings. Two, they are used mostly for cooling of the piston, which is good but not really needed when going with forged rods and pistons.

Like Legacy777 said....loctite then if you decide to keep them.

Just wanted to mention the 22B had a closed deck phase 2 Ej22 and they didnt have oil squirters.

I think that's a great idea to get it. I would defnayel put that motor on a stand and take it easy on your current motor so u can save up and buld for your goals on the new motor. Might as well do it all while it already out.
