what is your opinion of nasioc?

seems like everytime i go on it there is a hundred new idiots registered .
the threads they start are just the dumbest things that come up about 30 times if you search for them, and there is just too much shit to go through to find some relevant info or half decent threads

NASIOC is great for stock parts and even aftermarket WRX parts. I love browsing the classifieds there but I don't use any other part of the forum. There's a million categories and sub-categories. It's crazy. Overwhelming. Plus there's a lot of assholes on there. Probably the rich kids with STIs I'm guessing.

The pre 2002 Factory Turbo Powertrain subforum IS worthwhile, especially for those of us with DOHC/EJ20G swaps. A few of the most knowledgable folks on the subject hang out in there. They also tend to keep the BS to a minimum by calling out folks that try to troll "on thier turf". Most of the ePeens go limp when faced with real facts from Matt, Jaxx, Marnix and a few other really old-school guys.

Other than that, yep Classifieds are about it.

Stick to Pre 2002, built engine and the conversions forum and it will greatly reduce the number of idiots you have to deal with.

The built engine section has the highest IQ of the entire forum.

There is a mod on there that is so goddamn annoying, any thread he posts in turns to crap instantly. I'm sure somebody knows. Knows his shit but has the people skills of a grizzly bear...

Who's the mod? I know Uncle Scotty is a maroon.

I've found lots of good stuff on there, but you really have to sift through mounds of BS to find anything worth while.

+1. Those are the only sections I visit, and I have gotten some good info there in the past.

Although, I must say that there's way less referencing to NASIOC threads here than there was when I first signed up on LC. I think that just shows how THIS site keeps getting better, no?

i bought my 05 gt wheels and both full sets of calipers for both cars off there. great for updating our cars. all the guys that STi usually dump off the new parts to buy aftermarket so you can get pretty much new turbos and such for cheap.

I post there a lot. as long as you stick to the tech forums it's alright.

Yea, the only sections I go to are NWIC (to BS with my friends and meets and such), Classifieds, and the Legacy Owners Gallery has gotten me aroused more than once

Yea, I had about 8 people tell me about this site when I got my Legacy

Nasioc sucks, I check the spotted thread in the NW section every once in a while just because I know a shit ton of people that drive WRX's and STi's that stand out from the typical Nasioc cookie cutter cars, but every time I just get mad about stupid things people say.

You have to be selective where you post and what forums you visit. I just scan topics for anything interesting. As mentioned, there is some good info on there, you just have to sift through it.

I've met Uncle Scotty before. He's an old cantankerous manchild.

I have been researching some good Frankenmotor threads on NASIOC recently, but now I usually only post when I need to buy or sell something. I got tired of the nonsense.
