Got 3 of the 4 rear subframe mounting bolt out - the ones that mount the subrame up onto the chassis. I can't get the 4th one to move. have basically rounded off the head and a bolt extractor socket won't even bite into it.

Short of drilling it out with an easy out - anybody got any advice ?

thanks

Grind off the head. The subframe can then be removed, and the heat from the ginding will probably have broken the threads loose. If not, keep heating it with a torch. Grind two flat spots on the stub opposite each other, and use Vise-Grips to extract it.

Thanks Jerry,

Sub frame is already off with a 2 inch piece of it still attached to that 1 darn bolt :) Thanks for the grinding idea. My only conerns is of course the bolt that's stuck is right next to the gas tank so I'm a bit scared about all of the sparks flying around. Maybe I get the wool fir blanket from school and put it around the gas area to afford some protection .

Might sound silly but if the tank is full its better than not.Gas vapors are dangerous not the liquid itself as far as sparks go.You can throw a lit cigarette in a bucket of gas and 9 times out of ten it will just snuff it out,but i wouldnt try doing it to an empty gas can!

As long as you don't have the gas tank open or any of the lines open, you should be ok.
