just wondering if like the 90-94 legacys, if in the 95-99 most of the parts are interchangeable or not? and i apologize for not doing my homework but is there any good sporty suspension out there for a 96 legacy wagon? coilovers preferably

The 93-99 impreza stuff should work. Some of the newer impreza stuff may also work, but may require similar tweaks that are done on the first gen legacies.

is there anyone with a 95-99 legacy that has tried this? or knows of a quality coilover for it?

stuff for an 02-07 wrx is the most direct fit for a bd/bk, except that the wrx sedan has a wider track which will result in a lack of camber. Parts from a wrx wagon shouldn't have this problem. Also 05-07 sti front struts don't fit.

FWIW, I'm running '06 WRX Wagon top/struts/springs on my '90 Legacy....they should fit the same on the '95-'99....even better as the rear strut mount bolt pattern will match yours.
