No you can not. You need to use a push style clutch setup. I had heard the WRX did go to push style around 06, but don't know if that setup could be used on the older push style clutches.

what would be a push style?
the 2.2 non turbo BUT upgraded? 2.5 RS upgrades?
Like exedy, act, for 2.2/2.5rs?

Push style is the type of engagement action of the clutch & fork setup. Typically the push style is found on non-turbo cars and the pull style found on the turbo cars. However, like I mentioned, I think Subaru may have switched to the push style for the WRX in 06 or around there.

I'd look for an exedy for a 2.5 rs. That should work. Only thing I'd be cautious of is the 2.5 RS's use a hydraulic setup, so they may have stiffer pressure plates, which may make the clutch pedal rather heavy for a cable clutch.

I'm running a 2.5L Forester Exedy clutch in my 2.2t powered car with a 95 Impreza cable trans. Clutch pedal feel is fine and I've had 0 issues with holding power at 12PSI on a VF10 turbo. I autox and drag race the car regularly.

Josh is correct about the clutch changeover in 06 for the WRX. Word on the street is that the 06 WRX flywheel must be sourced in order to use the corresponding clutch.

Exedy P/N is KSB04. Trans is doing fine. I do my best to be easy on the launches, only launched at 4K rpm once. It's all in how you treat it. Your mileage may vary!
