hi comp knock ideas

gonna start a 2.5 with 2.2 head build but want to address predetination ahead of time. i assumed guys that did this and have knock have exceeded the timing range of the ecu so altering the knock signal is out. are the crank sprockets from engine indexed diferently for the crank sensor? and what kind of keyway is on the crank snout ? wondering if a diff sprocket could b used or an offset keyway used to retard the baseline timing mechanically. other wise tig the keyway in the sprocket and have a new notch machined

You're best bet is to try and get a separate ignition controller. You can get an MSD DIS-2 ignition setup that is programmable and will allow you to alter timing.

Also, just for clarity's sake. Knock is typically a result of detonation. Preignition typically does not give you much warning, it just causes motor grenading.
