Feeler FS: WA - 1994 SS – Stage 2 starter

Post by BSOD2600 »

I’ve been contemplating selling the Sport Sedan (SS) and getting something newer. Simply tired of the old car’s quirks and I’m to the point in my life where (I think) I can afford a new Subaru WRX. I do NOT want to part the car out – I don’t have the time nor interest restoring it back to a stock condition.

I’ve only owned this SS for about a year. From the VIN history, I can see this SS originated from Portland, OR and has lived in OR, ID, and WA with 5 previous owners. The previous owner relayed a story about the grandma who first owned it, killed the tranny and got it replaced under warranty. It also apparently sat in a barn for a few years. I purchased the SS with a blown engine headgasket (sold it off). I transplanted all of the performance parts from my previous ‘94 TW to SS last summer. Like any old car, this one has various dings, scratches, etc but zero rust.

I have full maintenance records since 2006 (for the engine that I swapped into it). No CELs. The body has 231K miles. This is still my daily driver, so it works fine. Planning on posting the sale on Subaru forums (bbs and then nasioc) for a week or two. If no serious takers, then off to the wild world of Craiglist. Thinking about starting at $4,500. Located in Lynnwood, WA.

Known issues:
* front window cracked on passenger side
* body dents / hood scoop paint pealing
* needs new struts
* dome light stays on all the time – I have it switched off
* passenger door lock sometimes doesn’t actually lock for some reason
* trunk lock replaced with blank metal, as previous owner had it broken into.
* Power steering pump is weeping.
* PCV hose in left-rear engine is cracked, causes occasional oil to drip onto uppipe.
* ECU sees too much knocking even though none is audible. As such, ECU is in “limp mode”.

These are pictures from last summer. The WRX wheels are not installed. Yes, need to wash the car and get updated pictures...

I am willing to bet if you could get it out of limp mode, you might not be so apt to sell it.
But I understand where you are at.
I have an 05 STI, but I still drive my SS as a DD, because I get more raw feedback from the SS.

Sadly, good luck on the sale,
Yes I have too many Subarus
No you can't have one

I was wondering why you stopped posting. Too bad.

I'm interested in the short shifter and possibly the trans. And td05 if you come to parting your car.

You think revtronix has something to do with limp mode? Is that why he doesn't exist anymore? Heh, bad joke...

Naw, don't post anymore because I'm too busy with work/gf to really do shit to my car... and well besides limp, it's drivable. Although, last night I decided to relocate the KS and this weekend installing a new throttle body. We'll see how things go after that and how soon something else breaks.

Well I got the Rob tune ecu I'd let you try out to see how your car does. I'm just waiting to see if he can make some kind of a chip so that I don't have to convert to coil on plug. If he comes up with something I can let you try in. I too am in lynnwood.
