WOT problems

My 92 Legacy SS is having issues at WOT.

The motor is stock, and has about 120k on it, and is attached to a 5-spd. At partial throttle, the car feels great, has plenty of power. At WOT, the car falls on its face. It is significantly faster at 50-60% throttle then 100%. If I floor it, then slowly let off, it actually lunges forward for a split sec. The problem was significantly more pronounced when the weather was very cold. My guesses are a bad knock sensor, clogged cat, or maybe a failing boost solenoid. I don't have a boost gauge in it yet, but I should have a revscan cable by next week that might help shed some light on the problem.

Anyone have a similar issue before? Any guesses?

I had similar experience with an 88 supra turbo, allow though that car would fall on its face as soon it saw over 3 psi of boost. It ended up being a bad knock sensor, clogged cat, and bad o-rings on a couple of injectors.

Thanks a lot!

I forgot to mention that I have gutted the mid-pipe cat. It didn't show any sign of a deteriorating downpipe cat, but that doesn't mean it isn't happening I suppose.

Make sure the recommended spark plugs are in there too, that was my problem, which sound exactly like the problems you're having.

And the 'revscan' cable is coming from someone other than Revtronix, I hope? The Revtronix.com site hasn't been 'active' for months....even though it's viewable.

The subaru EvoScan cable works with EvoScan AND RevScan (I have it).
