I have a impreza, I am new to them so Im not sure if its a gc6 or 8 but it is obdII and it has a 2.2 liter naturally aspirated.
My question is...What year ecu for a turbo will swap in? I have an 02' sti computer..is 2002 still obdII?

What year Impreza do you have? The 95?

Is the 02 STi computer an overseas computer? It should be OBD2

yes and I know its supposed to be obdI but its the first yr obdII. Im all 4 swapping the whole EJ22t harness and computer if its a must, but I would like to swap computers if possible.

Spec C is a Jap ECU, meaning there is no OBD system. You cannot simply plug that ECU in and in all likelyhood it wont be connect anyway. You need to do a complete wiring harness swap/merge to make that happen.

I guess I will just quit trying to be extra cool and just install the EJ22T stuff.....
So I would need USDM parts huh?

Generally speaking yes. Not exactly though as there are some similarities. But generally if you are going to be using a Jap ECU you better have the car wired for that ECU and motor combo. What you do with the shortblock is usually up to you. Then again, I'm running a DOHC motor with an EJ22T ECU which was meant for an SOHC engine, but there are ways around that due to the age of the car. Newer ECUs do not respond to head switching as well. This is all very general and there are loopholes to everything, but the best thing you could do is a complete matching swap, meaning motor/ECU/wiring and then build from there.

In the spirit of this build:
Could a late model flash-able ECU be swapped in w/ the proper harness or jumper and be made to work?
