Water in my trunk

So I noticed an inch of water in the trunk on the passanger side, opposite area of the jack location. Originally I thought it might be coming from that drain tube that is right there.

Today it was raining so I checked in there and it looked like some might be coming from the weld by the wheel well and some is coming from the top near the trunk hinges. It was hard to pinpoint the spot. Anyone had similar issues on a sedan?

I had water in my spare wheel section and that little area below the jack. The water was coming in from my middle tail light assembly. The seal was all gone on the top off of the tail light so I resealed it and no water so far!

I was thinking of drilling a hole in the bottom of that cavity to let it drain until I can figure this out. When you accelerate, brake or corner, the water slushes around and gets all over in the trunk.

i had the same problem water was sitting in those pockets on the side in the trunk. I diagnosed that the water was entering from the seal on the tail lights. I pulled them off and created a new seal with rtv and some weather stripping.

I would check the tail lights before suspecting a weld....unless you have massive rust.

on my car i can see the trail that the water is coming from somewhere up near the rear tower/bottom of the windsheilt. i had to relocate & replace my seatbelt computer cuz water was dripping into the harness into it. hence them acting up when it would get super rainy.

It was raining again today and I didn't drive at all. I opened the trunk right after the rain stopped and checked for water. There might be a couple of areas it is leaking. There is a definite area near the trunk hinge under the corner of the rear window....I have not pin pointed the exact location but this point is higher then the tail light. I don't think all the water is coming from there so I will run some tests with the water hose on isolated areas when the weather gets better.

So I think I have located the water entry point.

There is a series of screws along the bottom of the rear window holding on a trim piece. These screws screw into plastic plugs set into the metal of the body. I think the water is leaking through and around one of these plugs. When I poured water over the plug, it found its way into the body and leaked into the trunk through a series of flanges in the upper front corner of the trunk.

I will silicone that area and report back with the results.

are these tails sealed with butyl rubber, or can they be sealed with butyl? i've seen cars where the butyl basically just gets hot and droops out causing a leak. easy and cheap fix if that is all it is....

I siliconed behind the trim piece on the bottom of the rear window...around and in the screw holes and any cracks or gaps in the metal. The car went through 2 rain storms where it used to accumulate 1-2 Liters of water in the side area of the trunk. There was no water at all in the trunk after the recent rain storms. I will keep my eye on it, but I think I solved the leaky trunk problem. :D

I think I have a leak somewhere on my trunk too, it rained a few days ago and theres water in both pockets and, regardless to the air temperature, moisture on the fender wells. What would be the main leak point and how do I prevent the mousture from coming back? I don't like the idea of moisture in the trunk all the time, especially when I have an amp in there and its almost always covered in it which can't be good.

Check taillight seals and if you have a spoiler, the mounting points. That's where mine was leaking from.

I took a look at the area around the tail lights and it doesn't look like thats the problem and I wish I had a spoiler but I don't so I'm not sure where it is. Could be the tail lights cause I took a glance at the seal from in the trunk and didn't see any water lines but you never know right.
