So I just got my new gf goodrich g force tires, had them mounted and ballenced, then I got an alinment done. Now when I turn to the left even a little but I get like a humming noise. So I went back and made sure all the tires were filled to 38psi, and I re tourqed all the lug nuts and I'm still getting the noise. So what can it be? It sounds like it's coming from the front but you never know. Could it be like a bad wheel bearing or something? The cars only got 130k on it and it's only been threw a few autocross's, also the noise is more notacble the faster you are going

I never heard this noise prior to my tire install so what could it be?

dunno but I'd take it back to whoever installed the tires.

Try rotating the front tires on the back and see if the noise goes away. Otherwise, I'd bring them back.

It is a bearing, my car is doing the same thing I just got new 16'' rims and tires, and the left side makes like a humming or droning noise and from my research its a bearing, just bought new ones but haven't put them on yet! the noise bugs the crap out of me!!!!

So my mechanic says it's my rear left wheel bearing.

Now he tells I'll be fine running on it for a few days but it's just gonna get louder. Now what are the chances that I can run in an auto x with a bad bearing? I don't care about the noise but is anything gonna happen? He won't be able to fix it untill next week and my auto x is on sunday

So am I safe to go? I can't see anything happening other then it getting noiser

you may have the possibility of messing up the hub! is your car fwd or awd wheel drive? the fwd cars have ball bearings in the back!

the bearings on our cars go bad a lot but they can be bad for a very long time.

It's awd.

I guess I'm not gonna be taking it the the auto x, there's always next time. Now can I buy the hub with bearings already in it or do I have to have to press them in? Also should the bearings be replaced in pairs? Or is it okay to just replace one corner?

This is very true. My first legacy wagon had 3 bad wheel bearings. Howling like crazy. Drove on it for a long time before I got 3 junkyard hubs and swapped em out. The previous owner probably drove it 10X as long like that before I got the car.

If your thinking about just getting new hubs why not just do the auto x? don't want to miss out on the fun :D

From what I have been reading it sounds like a total pain to change out.
