hey so i have a 92 turbo legacy with a 91 ej22t. pretty much everything is stock except i have a saab inter cooler for my top mount, a wrx turbo, 3" turbo back, and a bov. i also have a 4.11 rear end. oh and wrx brakes. what i want to know is, if i were to get a fmic how high could i turn up the boost before problems happen. right now im running 12 psi no problem on stock ecu. i really want some wrx heads cuz i hear the ej22t ones suck but i dont have the money right now. i also hear that the stock ej22t bottom end is pretty solid. Thank you in advance.

You must be running a fuel cut defender of some sort and boost controller too for all of that setup... There are plenty of people running the TD04 with 440cc injectors up to 17 psi with the WRX TMIC (aka revtronix stage 2 chip). Really to answer you question though, you need to data log things.

I would not be running 12 pounds on the SAAB intercooler. ( Just my opinion)
I would turn it down to 10. Based on the heads, turbo and stock injectors, I would not run any more than 13 lbs of boost- front mount or not. NOW, if you are going to go FMIC, and you have a TD04, maybe the 440 injectors would be a good option. THEN maybe push 16 lbs.

i ran 12psi on my lego without an intercooler for a long time( year and half). ran premium fuel always, never knocked or anything. was it safe?.... well it never blew up! :-D. i then added a FMIC which made her funner to drive. i finnely blew her up by running a TD05 16G @ 15 psi. i was running way too lean and burned up my oil rings. i know it was stupid but live and learn.

The stock injectors are 370, so to turn up the boost, we recommend the 440's, as they are the largest that the stock ECU can effectively handle. You will need a FCD to run over 12. Take the time to read up on the forum.
There is a lot of info, you just have to spend the time and search.

Correct. Engine management or a fuel cut defender is needed above that. Also, the MAP sensor maxes @ about 19psi.

The stock MAF will only go so far too....probaby 14-15 max.

The 440's will get you to 220-ish HP before maxing out.

The stock heads will get you to 250WHP+ (Legacy777 did it w/his Link EM), if you get the supporting mods. The USDM WRX heads are Phase 2 and don't work as easily on the EJ22T or w/the stock ECU (cam/crank signal differences, etc.). The '96-99 DOHC (EJ25) heads are more compatible and provide 20% more flow than the EJ22T's...and are getting cheaper by the minute.

On my setup (see Sig), I made 180HP/230torque @ 16psi, as a reference.
