It SEEMS from reading on the interwebs that the Mazda rwd transmissions, particularly the RX7II, can bolt up to an EJ engine. Does anyone know of anybody that's done it, if it's bolt up or a PITA? They're light, cheap, are reportedly fairly rugged, and have good ratios.

Someone at work suggested looking for a Racing Beat adaptor, but I've yet to find one on the Internets.
It's a long shot, but try
Kennedy Engineering.
I suggest that because I've heard there are adaptor plates that allow rotary engines to be bolted to VW/Porsche transmissions.
Since I understand that some dune buggy guys are switching to WRX engines (and bolting them up to the original VW transmissions)...
... I wonder if you could find enough similarities between the three to make something.
If not, try
Atkins Rotary.
