I was sitting there looking at my SS the other day and thought to myself 'that thing is so boxy, it would be a breeze to fab up a widebody kit for it.....'

Thus, I am now planning on doing just that once i get a bit of money to play with.

Anyone beat me to the punch?

I had planned on doing it to the wagon—just increasing the natural flares 22B style, but in the face of other projects, I don't feel the desire anymore. Would probably look great, though. You might be able to use an Impreza kit as a base.

I was just gonna fab it from scratch in sheet metal.....

I am debating how aggressive to go, though. 1 or 2 inches max, i am thinking.

You could go super extreme like i did with my s30

What did you do about the door hardware?

I was going to do mine the same width as the 22Bs and ditch the black molding while I was at it, either going with painted 2nd generation molding or leaving it with a simple indentation about the same size as the 2nd generation molding. I didn't want it to be too obvious, but to just look more aggressive and be able to fit wider tires.

The latch and striker are in the stock locations.the door handle just needs some modifying to work but a small issue relatively.

I've thought about what it would take to rework the body in such a fashion. To work with the subtle body lines and wheel flares would take some finesse and careful planning. I've wondered if following the factory angle (where the factory flare comes from) out further to get the wider flares or do something else. Making it functional would mean making a new seam to the inner fender and what not. The skinny area between the rear quarter and the door would make things interesting.

I've always thought that some E30 M3 style flares would look good w/ the boxier styling of the BC's. I'm too much of a wuss to do it to my own car, though. Besides being no good at bodywork.

That was exactly what i was thinking of doing. Just take the factory lines out a bit further. The RR is gonna be the biggest whore, because of the gas cap as well as having to deal with the door hardware.
